The Chinese electronics manufacturer Honor has undergone a change in management. In place of outgoing CEO George Zhao (pictured below), the company is headed by Li Jian, a former Huawei executive with more than 20 years of experience in mobile technology.
According to Chinese media, Zhao’s decision to leave his post was caused by health problems. According to the Daily Economic News, the board of directors accepted his resignation. CLS China’s brief statement did not provide any details regarding Zhao’s decision or his future status.
It is known about the new CEO that he began his activities at Huawei in 2001 and has steadily moved up the career ladder, becoming a member of the company’s supervisory board. Li Jian left Huawei in 2020 and joined Honor in 2021. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Li Jian served as Vice Chairman of Honor, Director and President of Human Resources.
As noted by GSMArena.com, Li Jian will need to navigate the complex environment of Honor’s equity management as the company prepares to go public in the near future.
