Huawei is preparing for the global launch of the tri-fold smartphone Mate XT, but this is not certain

When Huawei announced the Mate XT, the first folding smartphone of its kind with a three-section flexible display, it only said that it would soon launch in China. It seems that the Chinese manufacturer is still planning to sell its tri-fold smartphone in the markets of other countries.

Shortly after the presentation of the Mate XT, a promotional image of this smartphone appeared on Huawei’s social network X account, but nothing was said about the upcoming launch outside the home market. Now, a one-minute video has appeared on Huawei’s global YouTube account, demonstrating key design elements of the Mate XT, and also mentions the technologies that made it possible to create this unusual smartphone.

While Huawei’s video doesn’t mention the Mate XT launching outside of China, the very fact that the video appeared on YouTube hints at the possibility. Interestingly, Huawei has scheduled the launch of the new Mate Pad and Glide Keyboard for September 19. On the same day, the period for accepting pre-orders for the purchase of Mate XT in China will end. It is possible that during this event Huawei will talk more about its plans to launch a smartphone on the global market.

With the Mate XT, the developers have demonstrated Huawei’s most innovative capabilities, and consumers will have to pay a lot for it – the retail price of the smartphone is an impressive $2,800. Repairing a gadget won’t be cheap either. For example, a screen repair costs more than $1,100, and a motherboard replacement costs more than $1,200.
