HPE announced that its ProLiant Gen11 servers have received support for the latest AMD EPYC 9005 Turin processors, officially introduced this week. Additionally, the powerful ProLiant Compute XD685 debuted, targeting the most complex AI workloads.
The updated ProLiant Gen11 models inherited key characteristics from similar versions on AMD EPYC Genoa chips. At the same time, according to HPE, thanks to the transition to the EPYC 9005 Turin, the increase in overall performance reaches 35%, and energy efficiency – 25%. These machines set 30 new world records.
The ProLiant Gen11 family includes 1U and 2U devices with support for one and two processors. Flexible options are offered in terms of organizing the data storage subsystem. Servers are already available for order in some regions.

In turn, the new ProLiant Compute XD685 system shown in the image is made in 5U format. It is equipped with two EPYC 9005 Turin chips. The equipment can include up to eight AMD Instinct MI325X or AMD Instinct MI300X AI accelerators. The standard configuration uses air cooling, and if necessary, direct liquid cooling can be deployed. However, HPE Services offers a full range of customizable services for deploying large AI clusters. Pre-orders for the ProLiant Compute XD685 have already begun; NPE plans to organize supplies in the first quarter of 2025.
