HP has introduced two updated gaming laptops — Omen 17 and Omen Transcend 14. The first one received new Ryzen AI 300 processors on Strix Point crystals, the second one — Intel Arrow Lake-H chips.

The updated Omen 17 gaming laptop is based on AMD Strix Point processors, up to the 10-core and 20-thread Ryzen AI 9 365 model with a frequency of up to 5.0 GHz. The chip is equipped with an integrated neural engine (NPU) with a performance of up to 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second).

As a graphics subsystem, the Omen 17 can offer a discrete GeForce RTX 5070 video card with 8 GB of GDDR7 memory. The laptop is declared to have up to 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, as well as a 512 GB or 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive.



There are two display options to choose from: a 17.3-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a response rate of 3 ms, a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz (supports VRR 48-240 Hz), a brightness of 300 cd/m² and 100 percent sRGB color space, or a 17.3-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a response rate of 7 ms, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, a brightness of 300 cd/m² and 100 percent sRGB color space. Both screens support Low Blue Light and Flicker-free technologies, which reduce eye strain.

The Omen 17 comes with one USB Type-C port (10 Gbps, charging mode, and DisplayPort 1.4a), two USB Type-A (10 Gbps), one USB Type-A (5 Gbps), 1 Gbps LAN, and HDMI 2.1. The laptop has a full-size keyboard with single-zone RGB backlighting, supports Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4. It has an 83 Wh battery. The Omen 17 weighs 2953 grams and is 30 mm thick.

Omen Transcend 14

The Omen Transcend 14 stands out for its compact dimensions. Despite being a gaming laptop, it is only 17.99 mm thick and weighs 1,650 grams. The device is based on Intel Arrow Lake-H processors, up to the 16-core and 16-thread Core Ultra 9 285H model with a frequency of up to 5.4 GHz with an integrated NPU with a power of 13 TOPS.

Like the Omen 17, the updated Omen Transcend 14 offers a discrete GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. You can also opt for the integrated Intel Arc 140T graphics card in the CPU. The Omen Transcend 14 can offer up to 64GB of LPDDR5X-7467 RAM, as well as a 1TB or 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive.

The laptop features a 14-inch OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 2880 × 1800 resolution, 0.2 ms response time, and 120 Hz refresh rate (with 48–120 Hz VRR support). The typical screen brightness is 400 cd/m² (500 cd/m² in HDR mode). The display is VESA True Black HDR 500 certified, offers 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, and is equipped with Low Blue Light and Flicker-free technologies to reduce eye strain.

The manufacturer claims up to 11.5 hours of battery life for the Omen Transcend 14 from a 71 Wh battery in Eco mode. The laptop comes with a 140 W Type-C fast charger. The device is also equipped with a full-size keyboard with four-zone RGB backlighting, one Thunderbolt 4 interface (USB Type-C, 40 Gbps, alternative charging function and DisplayPort 2.1), one USB Type-C (10 Gbps, charging function and DisplayPort 1.4a), two USB Type-A (10 Gbps), one HDMI 2.1 and 1-Gb LAN. Depending on the configuration, support for Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 or 5.4 is also offered.
