Honor introduced MagicOS 9.0 – its vision of Android 15 with an abundance of AI

A week before the announcement of the flagship Magic7 series smartphones, Honor introduced the MagicOS 9.0 platform in China. According to the manufacturer, this is the world’s first personalized operating system with artificial intelligence for all scenarios; it is distinguished by deep integration of the voice assistant Yoyo or AI Agent.

MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15 will work using Honor’s proprietary MagicLM language model in a number of applications – it understands calls in natural language, has computer vision functions, learns from the user’s habits and takes into account the context of the dialogue with him. Like a regular assistant, the AI assistant can order coffee for the phone owner after making the purchase himself – the person will simply have to confirm the payment with a separate request.

The new MagicLM model has 3 billion parameters – this is less than 7 billion for the previous neural network, which worked locally on the device; At the same time, the new one consumes 80% less energy, demonstrates a 77% increase in loading speed and a 500% increase in word output speed. The size of the disk space it occupies has decreased by 1.8 GB, and RAM consumption has decreased by 1.6 GB. MagicOS 9.0 comes with AI Deepfake Detection, designed to protect the user from fraud.

The platform includes the Versatile Desktop, Magic Lock Screen and Magic Style functions, which adapt the work with it to the user’s needs; there are AI Gallery, AI Eraser, Face Restoration and AI Image Expansion tools. Honor stated that three dozen devices will receive MagicOS 9.0 and published an update release schedule, however, it is only valid for the Chinese market – international versions of smartphones will be updated later. Perhaps this will happen in early 2025, when Magic7 phones go on sale worldwide.
