Hisense introduced a 136-inch Micro-LED TV that will make the technology more accessible

Hisense unveiled its first 136-inch Micro-LED TV at CES 2025. The Hisense 136MX is expected to be a major milestone on the path to more affordable Micro-LED TVs, although the manufacturer has not yet announced the retail price of the new product.

Micro-LED technology is considered the future of smart TVs, as such panels provide higher brightness and color accuracy than OLED, with lower power consumption and greater durability. Micro-LED TVs have regularly appeared on the market in recent years, but often the cost of such models exceeds $100 thousand, so it is too early to talk about mass distribution. Hisense aims to change that at least a little as the new Micro-LED 136MX TV is aimed at a wider market.

The panel contains 24.88 million microscopic LEDs, each of which can be individually adjusted, similar to OLED pixels. These LEDs should help the Hisense 136MX achieve high brightness levels of up to 10k cd/m² and very high resolution, while perfect blacks mean extremely high levels of contrast. Unlike OLED, Micro-LEDs are less susceptible to burn-in and therefore have a significantly longer lifespan. As for the refresh rate, the Hisense 136MX has a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Along with this, Hisense has introduced the 116-inch TriChroma LED TV as a more affordable alternative. It’s essentially a Mini-LED backlit TV that uses a new type of “RGB local dimming technology” to dynamically adjust color, resulting in a brighter, more saturated picture. According to Hisense, the TV achieves 97% coverage of the BT.2020 color space. This model also supports brightness up to 10 thousand cd/m², as well as Dolby Vision IQ and IMAX Enhanced technologies. The equipment includes a 6.2.2 audio subsystem. There is no information yet on the cost of new Hisense products and the timing of their arrival on the market.
