GoPro has unveiled an updated version of its Max 360 360 camera for the first time since the original model launched five years ago. The new model retains the ability to shoot 5.6K video, has a larger battery, and an improved mounting system, as well as a new app and a lower retail price.

The updated Max 360 features two lenses, each capable of shooting 1440p video, providing 360° coverage. One of the most notable upgrades is the improved mounting system. The camera features a 1/4-20 thread for mounting on standard tripods.
In addition, the developers equipped the new product with a Max Enduro battery with a capacity of 1600 mAh, which increases the battery life even in cold weather (up to -10 °C). As part of the announcement, the vendor did not specify how long the camera can operate without recharging. The body design contains six microphones to improve sound quality and reduce the level of extraneous noise.
The developers also improved the device’s software and the Quik app, designed for quick editing of footage. There is now a feature for tracking objects using an AI-based algorithm to automatically focus on a selected object, as well as a tool for precise control of the field of view. Other innovations include CameraFX (add cinematic camera movement with one click), TimeWarp 360 (create time-lapse videos), Frame Grab Tool (extract individual frames from videos), and others.
The updated GoPro Max 360 is now available for $349, a significant discount from the original model, which retailed for $499 at launch.
