This month, Google unveiled a prototype of augmented reality (AR) glasses built on the Android XR software platform, which combines artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality (VR), and offers interaction with mixed reality (XR) devices. Now it has been revealed that the device will hit the market next year as a Samsung product. Previously, the glasses were expected to go on sale this year.

The prototype glasses were presented by Google Vice President and Head of Android XR Shahram Izadi at the TED2025 conference. However, Google did not announce its intention to release this product to the mass market. Now it has become known that the glasses will go on sale under the Samsung brand. According to the Korea Economic Daily, the Google glasses prototype and the future Samsung glasses are the same device, which will hit the market next year.

« “The two tech companies are working together to create new smart glasses, scheduled for release next year,” the report said, citing a source familiar with the matter. It also noted that both companies unveiled images of the smart glasses they were developing at the XR Unlock event held at Google’s New York campus in December last year.
