Google has quietly revealed the cost of using its new generative neural network Veo 2, which is designed to create videos and was first announced in December. The cost of generating video using the AI algorithm will be $0.5 per second.

This means that a minute of video generated by Veo 2 will cost $30, and an hour will cost $1,800. Google DeepMind, a division engaged in developments in the field of artificial intelligence, compared these figures with the Marvel blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, which had a production budget of $356 million, i.e. approximately $32,000 per second of video.
Of course, Veo 2 users won’t necessarily use every second of the algorithm-generated video they pay for. And the neural network is unlikely to be able to create anything like a Marvel blockbuster anytime soon. Google’s announcement says the algorithm can generate videos longer than two minutes. Note that OpenAI recently made its Sora AI video generator available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers, who pay $200 per month.
