As expected, Google’s free AI chatbot app Gemini has launched on Apple’s App Store worldwide. When it is launched, a chat window appears with a list of previous conversations of the user, who can send requests using text, voice or camera.
Previously, iOS device users had to open the Google app and switch to the appropriate tab to access Gemini. Alternatively, in September, the Google app home screen widget was updated with customizable shortcuts that allowed direct access to Gemini with one tap.
The Gemini iOS app has a new feature called Gemini Live, which provides access to a more interactive and conversational chatbot mode that is similar to the ChatGPT voice mode available on the Android platform. Gemini Live appears on both the Dynamic Island iPhone and on the lock screen.
Like all other chatbots that don’t support Siri, Gemini has some limitations. It cannot change settings or access other applications. But it can access Google’s software solutions. For example, you can ask it to play music and it will launch YouTube Music. You can also ask him to show the way, and he will open the Google Maps mapping service.
