Google Pixel 9a smartphone hits stores before announcement — it’s already been unboxed on camera

Google is expected to launch the mid-range Pixel 9a smartphone this month. The device hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it’s apparently already available in some regions. This week, Dubai-based reviewer Sahil Karoul posted an unboxing video and benchmarks of the Pixel 9a, giving us a first look at Google’s new smartphone.

According to the available information, the Pixel 9a has gone on sale in Dubai. On one of the local classifieds sites, you can buy the Pixel 9a with a 128 GB storage for AED 2,350 (around $640). Since in this case we are talking about selling devices through a regional reseller, the price of the Pixel 9a smartphone will probably be lower by the time the official sales start.

A Dubai-based reviewer has published a video of the Pixel 9a unboxing and the results of its first benchmark tests. Karul’s video gives a full idea of ​​the smartphone’s appearance, which has a compact main camera module that barely protrudes above the surface of the case. The device comes with a SIM card eject tool and a USB cable for connecting the charger.

The smartphone is equipped with a 6.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2424 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. A panel with a peak brightness of 2700 cd / m² is used. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen from mechanical damage. The proprietary Google Tensor G4 microprocessor is responsible for performance.

The video also shows that the smartphone runs Android 15, and its weight, apparently, is only 187 g. In addition to this, the test results are provided. In the AnTuTu benchmark, the device scored 1,049,844 points, 1,530 and 3,344 points in the Geekbench 6 benchmark for single-core and multi-core modes, respectively, and 2,604 points in 3DMark Wild Life. It is noted that during various stress tests, the smartphone’s performance reached 60% of the peak value, but the device did not heat up noticeably.

The video also mentions the main camera, which is based on a 48-megapixel sensor, supplemented by a 13-megapixel module. The appearance of this review may indicate that the official announcement of the new Google smartphone will take place soon.
