Google Pixel 9 Pro XL can be disassembled on both sides, but repairability was still average

IFixit specialists assessed the repairability of the new flagship smartphone Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. The new product received an average rating – the procedure for removing the screen and battery raised serious questions.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL smartphone offers dual access to components. Thus, you can disassemble the smartphone for repair both from the screen side and from the rear panel of the device. This means that, for example, a cracked screen will be easier to remove than on devices with only rear access.

However, as an iFixit specialist explains in a published video, when removing the screen of the new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, you will need to take special care, since the display layers are prone to separation, which automatically disables the panel.

Replacing a device’s battery can also be difficult. The battery itself is easy to get to – you just need to remove the back panel of the device. However, the battery is so tightly secured to the case that the iFixit technician had to really fiddle with it to remove it.

As a result, iFixit gave the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL only 5 out of 10 on its repairability scale for its fragile screen and complicated battery removal process.
