Google has launched free Gemini Live voice mode for all Android users. This feature, available through the Gemini app, allows you to have a voice conversation with the AI assistant in real time, interrupt its responses and select different voices.
Google first announced Gemini Live at its Pixel 9 launch event last month, but until now the feature was only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. According to 9to5Google, to activate the mode, simply select the new wave-shaped icon in the lower right corner of the interface.
Gemini Live offers functionality similar to ChatGPT voice chat, but has a number of unique features. Users can not only ask questions by voice, but also interrupt the AI assistant’s answers in the middle of a sentence, which allows for a more natural and dynamic dialogue with it. The interface provides the options “hold” to pause Gemini’s response and “end” to end the conversation, giving the user complete control over the conversation.
To further personalize the interaction with AI, users can choose one of their favorite voices for the assistant. At the moment, Gemini Live only works in English, but Google has already announced plans to expand language support and develop a version for iOS.
