Google Gemini AI Will Gain Access to User Search History, and Deep Research Feature Will Become Free

The main update, as reported by Ars Technica, was received by the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental AI model, which is responsible for multi-tasking logical reasoning. This tool will now be able to generate answers in the amount of up to 1 million tokens, and in addition, users will be able to upload files, get faster results and integrate Gemini with services such as Google Calendar, notes, tasks and Google Photos.

To enhance personalization, users are offered to allow Gemini to analyze their search history. At the same time, it is emphasized that the function works only with the user’s consent and can be disabled at any time, and a small teaser will be displayed in the interface notifying about the use of this option. This approach, according to Google, will allow the neural network to better understand a person’s interests and give more relevant recommendations.

Another important update concerns the Deep Research tool, which helps collect detailed information on a given topic and analyze it. The updated version (based on Gemini 2.0) not only analyzes Internet sources, but also demonstrates the data collection process itself. Google assures that the quality of the final results will now be higher. At the same time, Deep Research will be made free, but with some restrictions. And as specified, you can use this tool without payment only a few times a month. But as for the number of requests, this point has not yet been announced by the company.

It is also worth mentioning that Gems, which are custom chatbots for performing specific tasks, will now be available for free. Google has offered several templates, such as Learning Coach and Brainstormer, but users can also create their own Gems.
