Page and a small group of engineers are developing an AI system that will be able to create “highly optimized” designs of objects, after which their production at a factory will be formalized, The Information described the startup’s work scheme. The head of the project, about which there is almost no information yet, is Chris Anderson, who previously held the position of technical director at Kittyhawk, a company supported by Page. The company developed electric-powered aircraft from 2010 to 2022, after which it ceased operations.

Page isn’t the only one interested in the field of AI in manufacturing. Orbital Materials is developing an AI platform that will help create new materials, from batteries to carbon dioxide capture devices. PhysicsX specializes in creating simulations for engineers in various fields: automotive, aerospace, and materials science. Instrumental’s goal is to create a machine vision system for detecting anomalies in factories.

Meanwhile, Sergey Brin, another Google founder, has returned to work at the company and recently addressed the AI developers. He urged his subordinates to work harder and stop “coddling” users — to reduce the number of restrictions in AI systems.
