Google Chrome No Longer Installable on Computers with Intel and AMD Processors

Users have encountered an error when installing the Google Chrome browser on Windows computers with Intel and AMD processors. The downloaded installer fails to launch, displaying a system message about incompatibility. Sources suggest that Google is mistakenly distributing a version of the installer for computers on the ARM architecture.

According to Windows Latest, the Google Chrome installer downloaded from the official website does not run on computers with Intel and AMD processors. When trying to open the ChromeSetup.exe file, the system displays the message: “This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your computer, contact the software publisher.” Reddit users report the same problem, pointing to a system failure in the installation process.

The publication suggests that Google is likely providing an ARM version of the Chrome installer to computers using the x64 architecture. This means that devices with Intel and AMD processors receive an installation file intended for systems based on Snapdragon chips, which causes an architecture conflict when trying to launch.

Despite the problems, some Reddit users note that the installation is successful if you use the alternative link to Chrome. In addition, Windows Latest indicates that offline installers work correctly. To download the offline distribution, you need to open the Google Chrome website, go to the Chrome Family section, select Other platforms and download the appropriate version, for example, Windows 11/10 64-bit.

At the time of publication, Google has not provided an official comment on the situation. There is no information on the scale of the problem, the number of affected users, or the exact time the failure began. Also, technical details regarding the mechanism of the erroneous distribution of the ARM installer are not disclosed.
