Google Chrome for Android Gets Larger Content Area

With the Google Chrome 135 update, the content area in the browser has increased to the maximum possible – it now stretches from the top to the bottom edge of the screen, and interface elements appear only when you scroll up the page.

When scrolling down a page, the gesture command bar in Chrome 135 is now displayed without a background fill, right on top of the active page content. In reality, the visibility area for the user will not increase dramatically, but for the browser, this is a long-awaited innovation that many progressive application developers have already deployed. The background for the bar is shown only when the site initially loads, disappears when the page is scrolled down, and returns when scrolling up – the bar with the browser address bar behaves in a similar way.

Google has already started distributing the Chrome 135 update via the Play Store, but the content area has not yet increased in all browser versions, but only for devices with “small screens” — support for large screens, i.e. tablets, will appear later. In addition, the innovation only affected the gesture command panel, but not navigation with the traditional three buttons, although it would also become more attractive without the fill on the screen panel.
