Scientists from the Berlin Center for Materials and Energy named after Helmholtz (HZB) and researchers from the Humboldt University Berlin University Berlin reported the registration of the record efficiency of new tandem solar cells using CIGS peroviscite and connecting. Both materials allow you to create thin -film cells, so even in pairs they remain flexible.
Researchers of both institutions participated in the manufacture of new tandem solar cells. Scientists from HZB created contact layers, including the base layer under the element, as well as the lower sensitive layer of copper, India, Gaul and Selena, which is indicated by the abbreviation CIGS. Researchers from HZB also made the upper layer – perovskitic. The contact layer connecting Perovskite and Cigs was developed and produced in a joint laboratory. It was he who ensured a breakthrough – the highest effectiveness among similar solutions.
During tests, the new tandem element demonstrated the efficiency of 24.6 %. The record was confirmed by the Fraunhofer Commissioner of Solar Energy Systems in Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems Ise in Freiburg). Researchers said that the cells they created perovskit-Cigs have the potential of efficiency to 30 % and higher, which they will try to reveal in further work.
