GeForce RTX 5090 can consume up to 901 W, but not for long

  • Up to 627.5 W for 10 ms to 20 ms;
  • Up to 738.2 watts for from 5 ms to 10 ms;
  • Up to 823.6 W for 1 ms to 5 ms;
  • Up to 901.1 watts with peaks lasting less than 1 ms.

Any power supply unit ATX 3.1, even with a declared capacity of less than 1200 W, should withstand such short -term peak power surges. However, the problem may arise in older models of power blocks of the ATX V2.51 standard (adopted in the mid-2010s). In this case, significant power deviations can cause current overload (OCP).
