GeForce RTX 5000 video cards will be in short supply and this will not last long, Nvidia partners warned

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5000 family of graphics cards, introduced at the beginning of the month, are expected to go on sale by January 30, but there is growing evidence that the first batch of graphics cards will be very small, and the shortage will persist for several months.

Let us remind you that on January 30, the GeForce RTX 5090 for $1999 and the GeForce RTX 5080 for $999 should go on sale, and the more affordable GeForce RTX 5070 Ti at a price of $749 should begin to conquer the market in February. The VideoCardz resource has summarized the information available in open sources about the nature of preparations for the release of these video cards to the market, and is forced to report that the shortage of video cards of this family may last for three months.

At least with regard to the flagship GeForce RTX 5090, system integrator PowerGPU, specializing in gaming solutions, calls for this to be prepared. He calls the launch of the GeForce RTX 5090 the worst in Nvidia’s history in terms of availability of video cards.

Nvidia’s South Korean partners, represented by the local representative office of Zotac, note that the older video cards of the family, represented by the GeForce RTX 5090, will appear on the local market no earlier than February, and it is too early to talk about the availability of the GeForce RTX 5080. According to the well-known resource BenchLife, one of the reasons for the delay in deliveries was not the most optimal timing for introducing new products to the market. The period fell during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration, and all Nvidia’s interaction with Asian partners predictably slowed down because of this. To avoid this, the company should schedule the start of sales of video cards for the period after the New Year holidays in China.

Regarding the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, potential buyers are urged to count on the appearance of video cards of this model on sale no earlier than the second half of February. At the same time, market participants are trying to take measures to prevent speculation in scarce video cards. Restrictions on the number of purchased video cards will be introduced not only at the level of retail chains, but also at the stage of wholesale deliveries.
