Gartner released the results of a study of the global IT market in 2024: year-on-year costs rose by 7.7%, reaching $5.1 trillion. In 2025, analysts believe that industry growth will accelerate amid the rapid adoption of AI technologies.

The review takes into account costs for data centers, electronic devices, enterprise-class software, IT services and telecommunications services. It is said that the data center segment in 2024 showed maximum growth – plus 39.4% compared to 2023: costs reached $329.1 billion.

Enterprise software generated nearly $1.1 trillion, up 12.0% from 2023. Spending on electronic devices increased year-on-year by 6.0%, reaching $734.2 billion. IT services provided revenue of $1.6 trillion, up 5.6% year-on-year. Telecommunications services brought in $1.4 trillion, which is 2.3% more than in 2023.

Analysts talk about high demand for servers designed for AI tasks. By 2028, hyperscalers are projected to operate $1 trillion worth of such machines.

Gartner believes that in 2025 the size of the global IT market will increase by 9.8% compared to 2024 and reach $5.6 trillion. The greatest growth is expected in the data center segment: here, according to experts, costs will rise by 23.2% to $405.5 billion. Enterprise-class software will provide revenue of $1.2 trillion with an increase of 14.2% year on year . Electronic devices will bring in $810.2 billion, an increase of 10.4% compared to 2024. IT services and telecommunications services will account for $1.7 trillion and more than $1.4 trillion, respectively, with growth of 9.0% and 3.8% year-on-year.
