Garmin Unveils Vivoactive 6 Smartwatch With User Energy Monitoring For $300

Garmin has announced the Vivoactive 6, the latest in its line of wearables aimed at people who are into sports and lead an active lifestyle. Visually, the new product looks like the previous generation model, but nevertheless, it has received a number of improvements, including a brighter display, an updated interface, and an expanded set of tools for training and monitoring health.

The Vivoactive 6 smartwatch is the successor to the Vivoactive 5 model, introduced by Garmin in 2023, which was the first to use an AMOLED display. The new product retains the same screen size (1.2 inches) and 42 mm case, but the developers have used a brighter panel, providing better visibility in the sun. Battery life remains the same: up to 11 days in smartwatch mode and up to 21 hours when using GPS.

Despite the unchanged appearance, the developers have added a number of innovations to the device’s software. For example, the Vivoactive 6 has a smart alarm clock that should wake the user during the REM phase within a set time period. A customizable morning report will provide an assessment of sleep quality, heart rate variability data, and other indicators.

For runners, there are additional training customization options, including the PacePro feature, which provides running pace recommendations based on terrain and user preferences. There are more than 80 sport profiles and guided workouts for different sports. Users still have access to the Garmin Coach tool, which provides detailed recommendations, including step-by-step training plans for running and strength training. Special training modes are available for those with disabilities who use wheelchairs.

The Vivoactive 6 brings back the animated workout feature, as many users were disappointed by its absence in the previous generation model. Most of Garmin’s signature health tracking features have also migrated to the new smartwatch, including Body Battery energy monitoring, stress level tracking, and other tools. The device supports contactless payments via the Garmin Pay system, as well as phone-free music playback by downloading content from Spotify, Amazon Music, or Deezer. Messages and notifications from a synced smartphone are still available on the watch.

The Vivoactive 6 will be available in a variety of colors with quick-release silicone straps and will be available on April 4 for $299.99.
