New details about the Google Pixel 9a smartphone have appeared on the Internet, the announcement of which is expected in mid-March 2025. The Android Headlines resource, which published the full specifications of the gadget, insists on their accuracy, since the information was obtained from the wireless network operator and confirmed by another source.
According to Android Headlines, the Pixel 9a will be based on the Tensor G4 chipset, which will complement the Titan M2 security chip, like the rest of the Pixel 9 family. The smartphone will have 8 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128 or 256 GB of built-in UFS 3.1 storage.
The 6.285-inch display with a resolution of 2424×1080 pixels will support a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Peak brightness will be 2700 cd/m², and in HDR mode – 1800 cd/m². Gorilla Glass 3 will be used to protect against damage.
The display will have a built-in fingerprint scanner, probably an optical one (unlike the ultrasonic ones in the other models in the series). At the top of the screen there will be a 13-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX712 sensor and f/2.2 aperture. On the back panel there will be a main 48-megapixel camera with a Samsung ISOCELL GN8 sensor and an f/1.7 aperture, complemented by a 13-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX712 sensor and wide-angle optics with an f/2.2 aperture.
The 5100 mAh battery will offer wired charging with a power of only 23 W and wireless charging at 7.5 W, and will also be able to provide long battery life. Despite the larger battery than the Pixel 8a, the smartphone will hardly increase in size: its dimensions will be 154.7 × 73.3 × 8.9 mm, and the weight will be 185.9 g.
The smartphone’s specifications will also include Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.3 LE wireless adapters, a USB Type-C 3.2 port, an NFC chip, stereo speakers and two microphones. The device will comply with the IP68 water and dust protection standard. The Pixel 9a will run Android 15 with support for updates for seven years.
The cost of the new product will remain the same as the Pixel 8a – $499.
