Five Reasons to Love the HONOR Pad V9

Modern tablets, especially in the mid-price segment, are rarely interesting. They can often be described as “a screen for watching videos and surfing the Internet.” But there are exceptions, and the new HONOR Pad V9 is one of them. We tell you all the details about this tablet in our review, and here we will briefly describe the most interesting points.

Elegant and reliable body

Tablets rarely surprise with their appearance. The HONOR Pad V9 is, to some extent, a happy exception to this “rule”. The front is standard – a screen with fairly noticeable frames. The style is evident at the back: the back panel is made of glass, not plastic or aluminum, like most other tablets. In addition, it is equipped with elegant patterns, thanks to which the back surface of the HONOR Pad V9 effectively plays in the light.

The HONOR Pad V9 has a thin profile (6.1 mm) and light weight (only 475 g). At the same time, the tablet has increased bending strength, resistance to scratches, abrasions, fingerprints and other traces of everyday use. HONOR notes the presence of a five-star SGS certificate, which confirms the increased protective characteristics of the device and bending resistance with a moment of force of up to 100 N mm.

Large screen with high image quality

The HONOR Pad V9 has an 11.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2800 × 1840 pixels, which provides an absolutely clear image. A high refresh rate of 144 Hz ensures smooth images. Peak brightness is declared at 500 cd / m², and a wide color gamut is also noted.

In addition, HONOR has implemented two important vision protection technologies. Firstly, these are AI defocus screens that create a controlled defocus effect in the peripheral field of vision while maintaining the clarity of the central field of vision, which reduces transient myopia by 13 degrees in 25 minutes of use. Secondly, this is the “Circadian Night Screen with AI”, which adaptively changes color rendering during the day, making it warmer in the evening. This minimizes the impact on melatonin production and makes it easier to fall asleep.

Productive hardware

The HONOR Pad V9 is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 hardware platform — a fresh and very powerful solution. The chip includes eight cores distributed across three clusters: one high-performance ARM Cortex-A715 core with a frequency of 3.35 GHz, three ARM Cortex-A715 cores with a frequency of 3.2 GHz and four energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A510 cores with a frequency of 2.2 GHz. The graphics subsystem is ARM Mali-G615 MC6. The process technology is 4 nm.

This platform is relevant both in terms of core architecture and process technology, and also has high performance. This is the upper middle class, which is not quite what you would expect from a tablet costing less than 50 thousand rubles. It copes well with both everyday work tasks and games. At the same time, the chip combines high power with energy efficiency, providing comfortable work and entertainment.

AI tools and features

HONOR Pad V9 has received a wide range of AI functions:

• The updated HONOR Notes app, which can convert voice to text with automatic speaker separation and translation into different languages. Formula recognition, various tools for organizing notes, and other useful features are also available.
• AI system for highlighting a selected voice with the ability to identify the speaker against the background of extraneous noise.
• Audio-to-text conversion function with automatic digest creation and highlighting of key points. The system synchronizes with the Notes application.
• Magic Portal is a tool that allows you to select and copy photos, text (including text in pictures) and other content from the screen for quick transfer to other applications.
• AI eraser that allows you to remove unwanted objects from photos and screenshots with one touch. This feature will appear in the HONOR Pad V9 with one of the future updates (at the time of writing this review, it was not available).

Support for additional accessories

Useful accessories are available for the HONOR Pad V9, such as a keyboard case with a touchpad and a Magic Pencil 3 stylus. Thanks to them, the tablet can partially replace a laptop or a graphics tablet. The pen can be purchased separately or you can choose a set with a tablet and a case (regular, without a keyboard). In any case, you will have to buy the keyboard case separately.
