Google has released an update to the Find My Device app, which now shows the location of other users who have given permission. The feature was announced with the March Android update, and now a wide range of users can use it.

The ability to broadcast your location is already available in Google Maps, and it turns out that with the latest update, the Find My Device app now offers two features at once: finding both devices and people in one place. It also allows you to view the locations of people who broadcast their location via Google Maps for iOS.

To use the new features, you need to open the Find My Device app and go to the People tab — this displays the location of friends from your contact list who have enabled geolocation transmission. Here you can also go to an additional tab and see which of them sees the user’s geolocation broadcast; there are additional settings, you can choose the duration of the geolocation broadcast. The interface is largely reminiscent of the Apple Find My service with a map at the top and a list of devices or people at the bottom.
