In addition to the WD_Black SN7100 series of NVMe drives and the WD_Black C50 Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X/S, Western Digital today introduced SanDisk Extreme PRO external SSDs with USB4 support and SanDisk Extreme Portable 8 TB under the SanDisk brand.
For the SanDisk Extreme PRO USB4 drive, available in 2TB ($279.99) and 4TB ($429.99) capacities, the company claims sequential read speeds of up to 3,800 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 3,700 MB/s. The device has IP65 protection against water and dust.
The manufacturer notes the compatibility of SanDisk Extreme PRO with USB4 with operating systems Windows 10 and later, macOS 14 and later, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 game consoles, as well as devices that support the Thunderbolt 4 interface. The drives come with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty. The new items will go on sale early next year.
The 8GB SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD, in turn, offers sequential read and write speeds of up to 1050 and 1000 MB/s. The device is already available for sale at a price of $799.99.
