CEO of Qualcomm Inc. Cristiano Amon, who unveiled a new version of the Snapdragon chip this week, said new smartphones that support AI-powered features on the device itself will be commonplace within a few years. He spoke about this during an interview with Bloomberg Television.

«Within the next five years, we, all of us, will probably have a smartphone with artificial intelligence,” Mr. Amon said.
Qualcomm dominates the market for processors for mobile devices running the Android operating system. This week, the manufacturer introduced the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite microprocessor, which will raise the performance of smartphones to the level of laptops and allow AI applications to run directly on the device. The company’s new chips boast an almost 45% increase in performance and lower power consumption compared to the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
During the interview, Amon refused to comment on the issue related to rumors of a full or partial takeover of Intel. “We have gone from smartphones to cars, from computers to industrial equipment. We did it all organically. We believe that we have a very competitive roadmap,” said the head of Qualcomm.
