«Grok 3 has very powerful reasoning capabilities, and in the tests we’ve done, Grok 3 outperforms everything that’s been released that we know of, so that’s a good sign,” said the billionaire. He once co-founded OpenAI, which was originally a nonprofit. After leaving it, Musk launched his own startup, xAI, which competes with OpenAI and Google.

This week, a group of investors led by Musk formally offered $97.4 billion to buy the assets of OpenAI, a nonprofit that oversees AI development. The company’s CEO, Sam Altman, wants to reorganize it and turn it into a for-profit company, but Musk is trying to prevent that, including through legal means. According to Altman, the for-profit status will allow it to attract the funds it needs to continue its work.

Musk made his announcement about the Grok 3 AI at the World Governments Summit in Dubai (UAE). UAE AI Minister Omar Al Olama asked the businessman several questions and said that they would collaborate on the Dubai Loop underground high-speed transport system project, but did not provide any details.
