Elon Musk Promises to Pay Less Attention to DOGE to Save Tesla

Elon Musk plans to step away from his active role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) starting in May. Tesla shares jumped 4.6% in pre-market trading after the announcement, despite a disappointing quarterly report.

During Tesla’s Q1 earnings call, Musk said he would continue to spend “one to two days” a week on DOGE-related issues next month while he focused on running his electric car company.

«“Starting next month, I intend to devote significantly more time to Tesla, since the bulk of the work on DOGE is complete,” Musk emphasized.

Musk’s position as head of DOGE has come under increasing criticism, with Tesla investors urging him to step away from the government-backed project and focus on Tesla, which is experiencing a severe sales slump.

As a special adviser to Donald Trump’s administration, Musk was limited to 130 days in the job. According to The Washington Post, there were rumors that he might leave the White House as his influence began to wane.
