Elon Musk has officially moved the SpaceX headquarters to Texas, and will turn Starbase into a city

Difficult relationships with the authorities of individual states of billionaire Elon Musk, whose wealth is now estimated at at least $400 billion, constantly force him to change the “registration” of his companies. Following up on a recent promise, Musk has moved the physical headquarters of his aerospace company SpaceX from California to Texas.

In this state, SpaceX has a Starbase launch pad near the town of Boca Chica, and from now on it is considered the official registration address of the entire company. Note that SpaceX management asked local authorities to organize elections to give the Starbase space launch site the status of a city. Hundreds of company employees live there.

SpaceX’s legal address was moved from Delaware to Texas this year because Musk was dissatisfied with the court decisions made against him by local justice. Previously, Musk moved Tesla’s headquarters from California to Texas, citing a conflict with the authorities of the first state that arose due to the lockdown of the auto assembly plant during the pandemic in the spring of 2020. Experts also saw in this step of the billionaire quite pragmatic motives related to tax optimization, since Elon Musk himself moved to Texas in 2021, following the Tesla headquarters. At the same time, Tesla’s research center has remained in California, where important developments for the company are carried out.

In July of this year, the billionaire decided to move the headquarters of X and SpaceX from California to Texas, as he expressed dissatisfaction with changes in the local legislation of the first state regarding the rights of adolescents to gender self-identification. Thus, the father of many children protested against the adoption of laws that ruin the fate of children. At Tesla’s shareholder meeting this summer, the issue of moving the company’s legal address from Delaware to Texas was also considered. This initiative was raised by Musk after a Delaware court stripped him of his right to claim compensation for his work in the amount of $56 billion.
