DJI has introduced a new line of Osmo Mobile 7 stabilizers for smartphones with an expanded set of accessories. The new products have become even more compact and lighter, have an improved ActiveTrack 7.0 tracking system and the ability to connect accessories such as an external microphone and a gesture control module. The new products also have legs built into the base for use as a tripod, and the older Osmo Mobile 7P model also has a built-in retractable rod.

The Osmo Mobile 7 doesn’t look much different from its predecessor, the Mobile 6. All the main controls, including the side wheel, the orientation reset trigger, and the selfie stick, are unchanged, Android Police reports. The main convenience still comes from the DJI Mimo app, which syncs the gimbal’s movements with the camera’s effects to help create professional-quality videos.

The new product weighs only 300 grams (version 7P – 368 grams), but provides up to 10 hours of battery life. An important improvement was the updated ActiveTrack 7.0 system, which allows you to track an object even in difficult conditions, for example, if someone leaves the frame for a moment or hides in a crowd. In addition, the technology now supports tracking multiple objects simultaneously and allows you to switch between them with one touch.

Another important addition is support for new accessories. In particular, the magnetic multifunctional module allows you to use the active tracking function directly in the native smartphone camera app, which can be especially useful for owners of high-end devices. In addition, this module is responsible for gesture control – you can raise your palm to start or stop tracking, show the “V” sign to take a photo or start recording, and use the Double L gesture to change the framing.

It is worth saying that in recent years, smartphones have become powerful tools for video shooting thanks to optical stabilization and high-quality sensors. However, in some situations, built-in stabilization is not enough and then gimbals come to the rescue, in the production of which DJI is one of the leaders. DJI is also known for its compact drones for video shooting, as well as three-axis stabilizers for smartphones.

Additional accessories for the Osmo Mobile 7 series include the DJI OM Magnetic Detachable Mount, DJI Mic Mini Transmitter, DJI OM 7 Series Tracking Kit, and DJI OM Grip. The Osmo Mobile 7 is available for $90 for the base version, while the more expensive Osmo Mobile 7P model will set you back $150.
