According to Deadline, citing its sources, the director and screenwriter of the film based on Death Stranding will be American director Michael Sarnoski.
Sarnoski, known for the thriller Pig and the horror film A Quiet Place: Day One, is currently finishing post-production with A24 on the action film Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.
In a discussion on the ResetEra forum, fans were delighted with Sarnoski’s appointment and see great potential in the partnership. “A fantastic choice,” says a user named Zor.

The Death Stranding film adaptation will not be a direct retelling of the game. When announcing the partnership with A24 in December 2023, Kojima claimed that “we are creating a Death Stranding universe that no one has ever seen.”
The Death Stranding movie promises to delve deeper into the mysteries of the apocalyptic event of the same name, which erased the boundaries between life and death and brought nightmarish creatures to a world on the brink of collapse.
Death Stranding is out now on PS4 and PC, with the extended director’s cut available on Steam, EGS, Microsoft Store, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Mac and iPhone 15 Pro. The game’s audience recently exceeded 20 million people.
