DataVolt to Build Powerful Data Center in Floating Area of Saudi Arabia’s ‘City of the Future’ Neom

The innovative city of Neom, located in northwestern Saudi Arabia, will receive a green 1.5 GW data center, which will be built by DataVolt. The first phase of construction, with an investment of $5 billion, is expected to be completed by 2028. The data center will be located on the floating Oxagon.

The data center will support a variety of computing power density options, energy-efficient architectures and advanced cooling systems to avoid the problems typical of traditional data centers, the press release said.

Oxagon management said that Saudi Arabia is at the forefront of the global energy transition. Oxagon is actively developing the renewable energy supply ecosystem, which is what will power the data center. The agreement with DataVolt lays the foundation for the first green AI solutions to be deployed in Saudi Arabia. It will also provide the necessary computing power for businesses at the regional and global level.

DataVolt said the agreement with the “city of the future” and Oxagon supports the country’s ambitions to become a regional digital and AI hub. And Oxagon’s strategic location on the Red Sea, along with access to undersea fibre optic cables, abundant renewable energy, affordable green hydrogen, and a rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem, make the city an ideal location for a large-scale green campus.
