Data analyst profession in 2025: demand, salaries, directions

A data analyst helps companies make informed decisions based on facts rather than assumptions. Its main task is collecting, processing and analyzing data. To simplify, the analyst answers the question: “What is the best decision to make based on the data?”

Why is the profession in demand?

  • Various areas of application. Analysts are in demand in IT, education, medicine, finance, e-commerce, advertising, logistics, manufacturing – wherever there is data that requires analysis.
  • Growing data volume. Companies collect a huge amount of information: about purchases, user behavior on the site, the results of advertising campaigns and the operation of equipment. However, simply collecting data is not enough; it must be interpreted to gain value.
  • The trend towards data-driven decision making. More and more companies are taking a data-driven approach, making decisions based on statistics rather than intuition. Analysts help businesses minimize risks and make accurate forecasts.
  • For the first half of 2024, the average salary was 135,000 rubles. According to Habr Careers, analysts’ salaries greatly depend on their grade:

    • For juniors – 100,000 rubles,
    • For middles – 177,000 rubles,
    • For seniors – 288,000 rubles.

As in other IT professions, the career path begins with an internship or junior position, with further growth to middle and senior positions.

Data analysts work in various directions, each of which has its own tasks:

    • A product analyst is involved in working on a product from idea development to its implementation and support.
    • A marketing analyst studies the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, analyzes traffic and user behavior.
    • A BI analyst is responsible for collecting, storing and analyzing corporate data, testing hypotheses, automating reporting and modeling.
    • A game analyst helps improve games, increase user engagement, and increase company profitability. This specialist must understand programming, graphics, sound and other aspects of game development.

In the Data Analyst course, in 7 months you will master basic skills: working with Python, SQL, databases and much more. 75% of the course is practice, including 4 large projects, 11 practical work and 10 cases from employers.

If you choose the advanced program, you can further study product or BI analytics and be able to consider more jobs.
