Texas’ energy mix has been expanded with a unique and world-class energy source: the JetWind modular wind turbine, which generates electricity from jet streams as aircraft take off. Since November 2024, the airport has used electricity from JetWind modules more than 10,000 times, including charging electric vehicles. A number of airports around the world are interested in the installation and want the same.

«The main goal of our project is to harness the constant wind generated by jet aircraft and convert it into a clean energy source,” the developers of the installation explained. “What was once considered wasted energy can now benefit energy networks, ultimately contributing to the development of smarter and more sustainable infrastructure around the world.”
The first five of the 13 Energy Capturing Pods (ECP) ordered have been installed and connected at Dallas’ Love Field Airport. The rollout follows three years of testing between 2021 and 2024, where prototypes were evaluated for their effectiveness in capturing jet exhaust from aircraft engines. The airport’s management liked the solution and ordered 13 units, five of which were manufactured this summer and eight more will be manufactured and installed over the next three years.
The source does not provide any details about the project, but notes that the public presentation of JetWind technology has caused a significant international resonance. Countries such as Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Switzerland, Great Britain and France have expressed enthusiasm about the potential use of this innovative system and would like to have similar ones. JetWind representatives reported that negotiations on this topic are already underway.
