Toshiba has announced an update to the S300 Pro Surveillance series of hard drives designed for video surveillance systems. These LFF drives support conventional magnetic recording (CMR) technology and are air-filled with capacities of up to 10 TB. New products allow you to record, store and analyze video streams from 64 HD cameras. In addition, they are energy efficient, according to the press release.
The 2020 S300 Pro has a buffer capacity of 256 MB and a maximum continuous data transfer rate of 248 MB/s. The updated S300 Pro drive received a 512 MiB (537 MB) buffer and a 13.3% higher maximum data transfer speed – up to 281 MB/s. The load capacity has also increased – from 180 TB/year to 300 TB/year. Also, the updated S300 supports 600,000 parking cycles, and the MTBF is 1.2 million hours.
The S300 Pro is available in capacities of 4, 6, 8 and 10 TB. They still use the SATA-3 interface, and their spindle speed is 7200 rpm. The number of supported disk bays is up to 24. The standard warranty is three years.
«Specifically optimized for large-scale video surveillance operations where advanced video analytics, face tracking and editing are critical capabilities, the next generation Toshiba S300 Pro hard drives provide enhanced performance, durability and 24/7 reliability,” said President, Storage Products Division, Toshiba Electronics Components Taiwan Corporation .
