China, riding a wave of patriotism, is introducing DeepSeek into all spheres of life without discrimination

Chinese companies, in a show of patriotism and riding the wave of excitement associated with the success of the domestic AI startup DeepSeek, are actively implementing the R1 reasoning model and the large language model V3 in their services, including the auto industry, smartphones, home appliances, healthcare and government agencies.

China is confident that the country’s competitive advantage in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) lies not so much in creating powerful models, but in finding various ways to apply them in practice. In addition, according to the developers of DeepSeek, the R1 and V3 models are comparable to Western counterparts in quality, but are much cheaper to use. This factor is also very important for the effective use of AI, writes Rest of World.

In the auto industry, more than 20 Chinese brands have announced DeepSeek implementations. Geely Auto, China’s second-largest automaker, has demonstrated how its AI-equipped cars can carry out complex commands, such as creating comfortable conditions for the driver to relax.

Major smartphone makers including Huawei, Oppo, Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi have also integrated DeepSeek into their systems. Huawei, for example, uses the R1 model to update its Xiaoyi voice assistant, giving users a choice between quick answers and deep reasoning. Oppo, in turn, notes that thanks to DeepSeek, society has begun to adapt to AI technologies faster. “We expected that it would take two years to educate people in this regard, but thanks to DeepSeek, this process is happening very quickly. This is very good for us,” said Liu Zuohu, Oppo’s chief product officer.

In the home appliances sector, Midea has implemented DeepSeek in air conditioners that can respond to voice commands, analyze the user’s mood, and even hold a conversation. Smart vacuum cleaners and AI-enabled refrigerators are also on sale. However, experts admit that such devices are far from ideal, but their effectiveness will increase as technology improves.

Medical institutions in China have not remained on the sidelines either. About 100 hospitals actively use DeepSeek for diagnostics, image analysis, and medical documentation management. However, in some areas, AI is not used. For example, in February, Hunan Province banned the use of AI for automatic prescription generation, and the National Health Commission banned the replacement of doctors with artificial intelligence.

Government agencies are also gradually switching to DeepSeek. For example, the Shenzhen Southern Technology Center was one of the first to use DeepSeek to optimize document flow in its system. At the same time, the accuracy of documents reached 95%, and the time for their processing was reduced by 90%. AI has also helped the police. When a signal was received that five stray horses were wandering around the city at night, the police asked the chatbot for information about nearby horse farms. Thanks to the AI’s quick response, officers were able to quickly find the owner by visiting the farms whose addresses DeepSeek provided.

Experts emphasize that the introduction of DeepSeek into government agencies is not only a matter of efficiency, but also a demonstration of support for the government’s strategic goals. “China has long identified AI as a key area for future development and aims to become a global leader in this field,” says Chen Li, an analyst at the Beijing-based think tank Anbound. At the same time, DeepSeek is becoming a symbol of China’s technological patriotism, uniting the efforts of business, the state, and society.
