Despite increased competition in the AI market, the audience of OpenAI’s generative AI chatbot ChatGPT continues to grow rapidly, adding 100 million months after announcing in August that it had reached 200 million weekly active users, The Verge writes.
The new achievement was announced by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman during the DealBook Summit event, hosted by The New York Times. “Our product has scaled, we now have more than 300 million weekly active users,” Altman said, adding that users now send more than 1 million messages per day to ChatGPT.
ChatGPT’s audience has been growing rapidly since the chatbot’s launch in November 2022, as OpenAI continually adds new features to attract more users. Specifically, ChatGPT has added an AI search feature that displays and summarizes results from the web, and a new Canvas interface that allows you to edit AI-generated text and code without creating new queries.
Apple also built ChatGPT directly into Siri as part of the iOS 18.2 update, which is currently available in beta, allowing the chatbot to reach even more users. Next year, OpenAI plans to increase the ChatGPT audience to 1 billion people.
