Chapter Nintendo: We are at risk to satisfy the demand for Switch 2

Nintendo is preparing to launch the Switch 2 gaming console and, according to the head of the company, she tries to prevent the console shortage at the start of sales. Nintendo showed the new console in mid -January. Obviously, the company wanted to do this later, but could not resist the onslaught of rumors and leaks. The official technical characteristics of the console are unknown. Nintendo will tell about them on April 2. In accordance with leaks and rumors, the new console will really be larger than the original Switch. Her Joy-Con controllers are attached to the side sides using magnetic holders. The new prefix will be compatible with digital and retail versions of the Switch games, although some projects may not be partially or completely supported by the new device.

According to the Nintendo President Cyntaro Furukawa, the company “is at risk and continues to increase the production of Switch 2 to satisfy as much potential demand” for a new gaming device. Against the background of incredible demand at the start of sales of the original Switch in 2017, Nintendo had problems with maintaining the warehouses of the console. The company has not yet been talking in detail about the business plan for the next financial year (will begin in April) regarding the production of Switch 2. According to Furukawa, they want to evaluate the potential demand for a new prefix after the Nintendo Direct, which will be told in detail about the new console.

«We believe that, as in the case of Nintendo Switch, it will not be easy for us to quickly increase production capacities, but, based on our past experience, we will prepare to react [to demand] as quickly as possible, ”said Furukawa within the framework The last financial report of the company.

According to him, the presence of “special software” is also important when starting a new console. The wording may indicate that Nintendo will not have many new exclusive games for Switch 2 at the start of the prefix sales. However, as mentioned above, the new console will be compatible with old games for the original Switch. At the moment, the only famous game for Switch 2 is the new Mario Kart. Nintendo has not specified whether this game will also be released for the first Switch.

Nintendo “currently” does not plan to adjust the price of the original Switch and is not yet ready to inform the price of Switch 2. Most likely, the cost of the new console will be announced on April 2.
