Big Data for Big Brother: Oracle CEO Proposes Collecting All American Data and Training It into a Super-Powerful “Monitoring” AI

According to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, if governments want AI to improve the quality of service and protection of citizens, then it is necessary to collect literally all information about them, including even DNA, in a single database, which can be used to train AI, The Register reports. Ellison shared this opinion with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the World Governments Summit in Dubai. The head of Oracle believes that artificial intelligence will soon change the life of every inhabitant of the Earth in every way.

In his opinion, it is necessary to provide the government with as much information as possible. To do this, it is necessary to bring together all national data, including geospatial data, economic information, electronic medical records, including DNA information, infrastructure information, etc. That is, transfer literally everything, train AI on this array, and then ask it any questions. Such a project can be implemented first in the United States, says Ellison.

The results, according to the multi-billionaire, will be an increase in the quality of healthcare due to the personalization of medical care, the ability to predict crop yields and optimize food production on this basis. It will be possible to analyze the quality of soils in order to give recommendations to farmers – where exactly to apply fertilizers and improve irrigation, etc. According to Ellison, when all the data is stored in one place, it will be possible to better care for patients and the population as a whole, manage all kinds of social services and get rid of fraud.

Of course, such a database system could become a precursor to a total surveillance system – the multi-billionaire spoke about the need for something like this last year, hinting that Oracle could implement such a project. Constant surveillance of the population in real time with data analysis by Oracle’s machine learning systems, according to him, will allow everyone to “behave in the best possible way.”

Oracle is already a major government and military contractor in the US and is ready to help other countries implement similar comprehensive AI projects. All the data, of course, is supposed to be placed in one large system authored by Oracle. As Ellison said, Oracle is already building a 2.2 GW data center worth $50-$100 billion. It is on such sites that the “super-powerful” AI will learn. Since such models are very expensive, customers will probably not have to train their own, but such sites will allow for the creation of several different large models.

There are only a few companies in the world that can train models of this scale. Among them, of course, is Oracle, with its own infrastructure. The company has joined the Stargate AI megaproject, which will cost $500 billion to implement over the next four years.
