AyaNeo Unveils Macintosh-Inspired Mini PC With Flip-Out Screen And AMD Strix Point Chip

AyaNeo has updated its compact AM01 Retro mini PC, introducing the AM01S model with a new processor and a number of other improvements. In particular, the new model has a built-in 4-inch touch screen. From a certain angle, the mini PC resembles a compact copy of a Macintosh computer.

The original AM01 model did not have a built-in screen, was equipped only with a black lid with “personalized decorative stickers” and was not positioned as a premium device, offering relatively outdated APUs – Ryzen 3 3200U and Ryzen 7 5700U on the Zen 2 architecture.

Initially, it was assumed that the new model would receive Ryzen 7 8845HS or Ryzen 9 8945HS processors on the Zen 4 architecture. The latter is the most productive chip in the Hawk Point series of processors. However, the manufacturer also decided to offer in the AM01S Retro a fresh 12-core AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor on Zen 5/5c cores from the Strix Point series, which includes 16 RDNA 3.5 graphics cores and a neural processor (NPU) with a performance of 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second). According to Chinese sources, both versions of the system will be available for sale – based on Ryzen 8000H and HX 370 processors.

The built-in 4-inch display, which can be folded up to 90 degrees, can display system information, a clock, color graphics, widgets, and also be used as a second screen. The mini PC is equipped with two USB4 ports (Type-C, 40 Gbps), five USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A (10 Gbps), one USB 2.0 Type-A and HDMI 2.0, two 2.5-Gbps LAN ports, and one 3.5-mm audio output.

The AyaNeo AM01S Retro has a one-liter case volume. The device is equipped with two SO-DIMM slots for DDR5-5600 memory, two M.2 connectors with support for PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives, and a cooling system that includes a large fan for the central processor, a radiator, heat pipes, and an additional fan for the SSD. According to the manufacturer, the cooling system effectively dissipates up to 65 W of thermal energy.

The company has not announced the price of the AM01S Retro. It is also not yet known when the mini PC will go on sale.
