At CES 2025 they found a “toaster” that will provide your smartphone with a fully charged battery in seconds

At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, the Swippitt system was introduced, which allows you to extend the battery life of smartphones in a matter of seconds by providing it with a fully charged battery. True, we are not talking about replacing the battery of the smartphone itself: in a device that resembles a toaster, an external battery is replaced, which is located in the smartphone case and powers it using wireless charging.

Cases for smartphones equipped with external batteries have been sold for a long time, but their main drawback is the need to remember to charge them, and this takes a lot of time. The creators of the Swippitt system proposed not to charge external batteries, but to quickly replace them. A smartphone with a Swippitt case is placed in a slot in the Swippitt Hub, which looks like a toaster, where the discharged battery is removed from the case and placed on charge, and the charged one is sent into the case.

The capacity of the external battery is 3500 mAh, and this is from 50% to 90% of the battery capacity in the smartphone, depending on its model. It is important that this resource is available immediately – you can either immediately start charging your smartphone’s battery, or leave an external battery in reserve. The Swippitt system comes with an application where you can set the necessary parameters—for example, you can limit your phone charging to 80% to extend its battery life, or start charging only at certain times of the day.

Swippitt’s battery replacement process is universal – all that matters is that you have a compatible case. At the start of sales, the manufacturer prepared cases for smartphones of the iPhone 14, 15 and 16 lines, and by the end of 2025, cases for Samsung Galaxy S phones will be added to them.

The Swippitt Hub is designed with some flexibility to ensure compatibility even as phones continue to grow in size. The Swippitt Hub costs $450 with five batteries on board, and another $120 for a case with an additional battery. The system will go on sale in June 2025.
