Asus has officially unveiled its flagship ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme motherboard for AMD Ryzen processors in Socket AM5, aimed at overclocking enthusiasts and anyone who prefers the most advanced components and is not constrained by finances.

The Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme is made in the E-ATX form factor, it is distinguished by a black color with silver elements. The motherboard offers a 20 + 2 + 2 (110 A) power supply scheme, there are two 8-pin EPS connectors. There are four DDR5 slots with support for modules with a total capacity of up to 256 GB and a speed of 8200 MT / s and higher; next to the RAM slots, there is a ROG Q-DIMM.2 slot, which can be used to connect two M.2 drives.
The motherboard has two PCIe 5.0 x16 and three more M.2 in addition to the aforementioned pair. The first main M.2 slot is equipped with a massive heatsink with a vapor chamber (a large heat pipe) and a convenient EZ release mechanism; the other two are hidden under a heatsink and a protective plate that extends to the PCH chipset. The top slot is unique in having a 3D Vapor Chamber design for high-speed PCIe 5.0 drives. Large heatsinks with a system of heat pipes are present near the power subsystem.
The rear I/O panel of the Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme features a 5-inch LCD display. The back side features overclocking aids such as a DEBUG LED, FlexKey button, and a row of right-angled connectors. The front panel USB connectors include 20Gbps, 10Gbps, and two 5Gbps. The bottom of the motherboard features a few additional switches and buttons.
The Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme boasts a large rear panel: there is a 7.1 audio output, a port for Wi-Fi 7, 10- and 5-gigabit network ports, four USB Type-C, including two 10 and two 40 Gbps, several USB Type-A, HDMI, as well as BIOS and Clear CMOS buttons. The flagship motherboard will go on sale at the end of April – in China, its recommended retail price will be 9999 yuan or $ 1400.
