Asus is set to release a new generation of portable gaming consoles soon – the range will be represented by black and white models. The black one differs from the white one by its more productive filling and the presence of an Xbox button on the body.

New information about the device was published by 91mobiles, whose authors found records about it from the Indonesian regulator and compared them with information from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). According to this information, the black version can boast significantly higher performance: it has an eight-core AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with a TDP of 36 W and 64 GB of LPDDR5-8533 RAM. The white model runs on an AMD Aeirth Plus chip – the successor to Van Gogh from Steam Deck has four cores and a TDP of 20 W.

There’s no word yet on Microsoft’s plans to bring Xbox OS to portable gaming consoles — the black Asus ROG Ally 2 will likely offer integration with the Xbox ecosystem, with a dedicated button launching the Xbox app for Windows. FCC certification only covers the Wi-Fi modules, but Asus and MediaTek have sent photos of the device to the agency. These reveal that the ROG Ally 2 will feature a refreshed design, including larger grips, while the bezels around the screen remain as large as those on the ROG Ally X and the original console. There are also two USB Type-C ports on the top. Asus will likely unveil the ROG Ally 2 at Computex 2025, which opens May 20 in Taipei.
