Asus has announced the expansion of its flagship series of ROG Thor III power supplies with 1000 and 1200 W models. Previously, the manufacturer presented a flagship model with a power of 1600 W in this series.

Like the older version, the new 1000 and 1200 W variants use GaN MOSFETs, giving the power supplies increased energy efficiency and a more optimized internal design. According to Asus, GaN components provide “up to 30% increase in energy efficiency compared to standard MOSFETs.” All new products are also equipped with capacitors with low equivalent series resistance.
The lower power models differ from the older 1600 W version by complying with the 80 Plus Platinum energy efficiency standard. The older model has the highest rating of 80 Plus Titanium.
All ROG Thor III Series power supplies are compliant with the ATX 3.1 power standard and feature a patented smart voltage regulator to ensure stable power delivery to the graphics card, improving overall system performance. The manufacturer claims that this element increases the stability of power transfer to the GPU by up to 45%.
Another feature of ROG Thor III power supplies is support for Turbo mode. True, in practice the function looks less impressive than its name. These are normal fan curve settings that allow the device to cope with peak loads for a longer period of time. In other words, this is a higher speed mode of fan operation. The fan itself has a service life of up to 80 thousand hours.
Finally, all Asus ROG Thor III power supply models feature a detachable OLED display with a magnetic mount to display real-time information about the system’s power consumption. It can be installed on any side of the power supply.
ROG Thor III power supplies come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. The cost of new products is not reported. For comparison, the previous generation ROG Thor 1600T PSU model with a power of 1600 W is priced at $700.
