One of the most noticeable changes is the improved ergonomics. Thus, the height of the device has increased by 4.5 mm, which provides a more comfortable grip and comfortable use during long gaming sessions. The console received a new black body with more rounded shapes, and the layout of buttons and joysticks was optimized.

The company’s engineers paid special attention to the cooling system. There are now new fans that are 23% smaller but provide more powerful airflow, and an additional vent on the top of the unit has increased airflow by 24%, significantly improving the console’s thermal performance.

In terms of performance, we already know that the ROG Ally X is equipped with 24 GB of LPDDR5 RAM – a significant improvement over the 16 GB of the previous model. The clock frequency has been increased from 6400 to 7500 MHz. At the same time, the console continues to use the same processor as its predecessor – the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU. There’s also an additional USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4 support for connecting external devices, including docking stations and external GPUs. ASUS has also updated the motherboard to additionally install an M.2 2280 form factor SSD. At the same time, the standard SSD out of the box is equipped with 1 TB of fast NVMe, which is twice as much as the first console model.

An important improvement was the increase in battery capacity to 80 Wh. That’s double the power of the previous model, meaning you can play longer without worrying about charging your device. True, the increase in battery size led to a slight increase in the weight of the device.
