ASROCK will transfer part of its production from China because of the new imported tariffs introduced by Trump

ASROCK representative in a conversation with PCMAG said that the company is going to transfer part of its production from China against the backdrop of the US decision to introduce an additional 10 percent tax on Chinese imports, which entered into force on February 4.

«We need time to transfer the production of video cards and other products that are applied to a 10 percent tariff to other countries, ”the company representative said.

This week, the US Presidential Administration Donald Trump (Donald Trump) introduced a 10 percent tax on the entire Chinese imports in the United States, in addition to existing duties that have already been charged from certain types of goods supplied from China.

«When we transfer production from China to other countries, we can take on part of the costs and compensate for the costs with a small increase in prices. However, against the background of current high competition, it is very difficult to raise prices, ”the company representative added.

The interlocutor PCMAG also said that the company is already paying a 25 percent tax on its power supplies produced in China. “For goods such as power supply, which an additional 25 percent tax has already been introduced, apparently nothing will change.”

Similar or even more rigid measures, the Trump administration threatens Taiwan. True, so far without any specifics. According to the US President, he could introduce duties to 100 percent to stimulate the production of computer chips within the United States.

The ASROCK decision to transfer part of production from China to another country is not a surprise. The hints of this approach to resolving the issue among manufacturers were noted at the end of 2024, when the PC Partner, the second largest video cards manufacturer producing printed boards for brands such as Inno3D and Zotac, transferred its headquarters from China to Singapore. It will not be surprised at all if other leading brands, such as Gigabyte, MSI and ASUS, will sooner or later take similar actions.
