ASRock showed the first Radeon video card with a 12+4-pin power connector, as well as a number of other RX 9070 XT and RX 9070

Journalists from the TechPowerUp portal discovered Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 video cards in branded Taichi, Steel Legend and Challenger versions at ASRock’s stand at CES 2025. The launch of new products is expected in the first quarter of this year, and at the same time the FSR 4 AI scaling technology will debut.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT Taichi in ASRock’s range is the oldest and stands out more than all the new products presented. It is equipped with a very massive cooling system, three expansion slots thick, and has an updated casing and rear reinforcement plate.

However, the most interesting detail of the card is that it is equipped with a 12+4-pin 12V-2×6 power connector. At the moment, this is the only known card from the Radeon RX 9070 series that uses such a power connector. Moreover, this is probably the first Radeon video card with such a power connector. The same connector is used in GeForce RTX 50 series video cards.

ASRock’s new product has a dual BIOS system with quiet and efficient operation mode, and is also equipped with a customizable multi-colored backlight switch.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT Steel Legend model appears to use the same cooling system as the recently launched ASRock Arc B580 Steel Legend OC.

The card has a light design and is equipped with three fans. The new product also has a physical RGB backlight switch. For additional power, the card uses a more conventional set of two 8-pin connectors.

The Radeon RX 9070 Challenger video card has received an updated cooling system design compared to its predecessors. It uses three fans instead of two. The new product is noticeably thinner than other new products – its thickness is two expansion slots.

The manufacturer did not disclose the characteristics of the video cards shown. At the moment, it is only known that the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 will each receive 16 GB of GDDR6 memory.
