Some users have noticed an abnormally high level of problems with Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors. Most of these cases involve motherboards from ASRock. The company itself issued a statement indicating that most cases are related to unstable operation or problems with starting the PC. The new beta versions of BIOS 3.20 should fix these problems.

ASRock Global does not specifically mention the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors in its official press release, but the company’s Japanese office confirmed that the BIOS updates are intended to address issues with these chips. According to ASRock Japan, the cause of instability and problems with starting the PC is related to the incompatibility of some RAM modules, and not a possible breakdown of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

«We will release a more detailed official statement later, but since there is a lot of misinformation out there right now, let us note the following: The problem is not with the processors. Some chips cannot start up due to RAM compatibility issues. There have been many reports of Ryzen 7 9800X3Ds suddenly failing. At least 40 such cases are known. Most of them indicate that the chips were started up on ASRock motherboards,” ASRock Japan said.

The company has released beta BIOS versions for its motherboards based on AMD A620, B850, and X870 chipsets. New firmware is also available for two boards based on AMD B650 chipset. A complete list of available firmware updates can be found on the ASRock website.
