Arctic’s MX series thermal pastes have long been a proven choice for many PC builders, but their popularity has led to many counterfeits appearing on the market. To combat counterfeiting, Arctic has implemented the “MX Authenticity Verification” system on MX-4 and MX-6 thermal paste packaging.

Users need to erase the protective layer on the thermal paste packaging and scan the QR code hidden underneath. The code will lead to the company’s official website, where the authenticity of the product will be confirmed and the buyer will be certified as having purchased the original Arctic MX thermal paste.
Arctic claims that the verification takes only a few seconds, but provides the user with additional confidence in the authenticity of the product. In the event that the buyer entered the code from the counterfeit packaging, the site will report this, and the buyer will have grounds for returning the goods.
The new measure should help curb the flow of low-quality counterfeits that have flooded the market. However, it may only be a matter of time before counterfeiters attempt to replicate the security features. However, such counterfeiting will require additional effort and expense, which may deter some unscrupulous manufacturers.
